Our Verdict
The No products found. is a fun and interactive robotic toy which can be a great gift for kids above the age of six. While it looks like a robot, it has a lot of emotions and a quirky voice which makes it cute. It reminds us of the Wall-E Pixar movie. The different modes of the toy give it a lot of range. Their tagline ‘Enormous Play, tiny Bot’ is on point. The only negative point we see is the battery. The battery of the toy lasts about an hour, which is disappointing. But overall, it is a great toy for kids and adults.
Design
The No products found. comes in an optimized packaging. It does not need to be turned on and hops out of the package once you open it. It is a rectangular-shaped robot with dimensions 5.2 x 5.2 x 6.8 inches and weighs about 12 ounces. Along with the toy you get a USB cable to charge it, a remote control, a ball and 10 activity cards which can be scanned for different games.
The Boxer has 6 wheels and a small screen on the front which helps display the emotions it is feeling. It also has a microphone and sensors on various points. These help the children interact with the Boxer. There are four modes in the Boxer – Interactive AI. Robot Toy: the autonomous mode, the Remote control, Card Scanning and App mode for a variety of activity. We will discuss the different modes in the sections below. What It Can Do?

Autonomous Mode:
The Boxer – Interactive AI Robot Toy comes default in Autonomous mode. In autonomous mode, you can interact with the boxer, talk to him, even tickle him on the belly side. In autonomous mode, the toy interacts with its environment. He is equipped with four IR or infrared sensors, two in the front, one on the back and one on the bottom. You can control it using hand gestures.
For example, if you want the toy to perform a wheelie, move your hands smoothly and swiftly on the back of the toy. The IR sensor on the back will sense the gesture and the toy will proceed to perform a wheelie. In case you want the toy to move in the direction you want, you move your hand slowly but smoothly in front of the toy, like you would when calling a pet. The toy will follow where your hand goes. If you shake the toy, it will get dizzy. You can even tickle it by rubbing the wheels and the bottom of the toy. There are various other actions you can perform with the toy in autonomous mode.
Remote Control Mode:
The remote control is another way to interact with Boxer. You can activate the remote control mode by pressing one of the stunt buttons on the remote control. A red light on the controller will turn on to indicate that it is powered on. You can then use the joysticks to move the toy around. If you are holding the controller in your hand, the left joystick will control the forward and backward movements while the right joystick will control the left and right turns.
There are two additional buttons on the side of the controller. These are the stunt buttons. You can use these buttons to make Boxer perform stunts. For example, if you push both the stunt buttons at the same time, the toy will perform a front flip. It is same as the other pet robots available in the market.
Card Scanning:
The No products found. comes with 10 activity cards, each of them unlocks different games that you can play with the toy. Each card has a graphic on its back which lets you know what activity it will unlock. The reverse side has a scannable bar code. To scan the barcode and activate the game, place the gaming card on a flat surface with the scanning code facing upwards.
The card also has dotted lines across its borders, this is the line you will use to position the toy’s wheels while scanning it. Place Boxer on top of the card such that his front wheels are aligned with the dotted lines. Now push the back button. The toy will move forward, scanning the card on its own. Once the card is scanned, Boxer is ready to play. The toy also has a website where you can reprint the cards in case you misplace them. App
The Boxer – Interactive AI Robot Toy has a mobile application which is compatible with android and IOs phones. You can download it from the Google PlayStore or the Apple Store. Once downloaded, you will find a lot more activity cards withing the application. Once you select an activity card, you will be shown a brief tutorial on how to use that particular activity on the application.
To turn on App mode, turn on the toy and press the back button for two seconds. The toy will make two chime sounds to indicate completion of the transition. Increase the volume of your smartphone and keep it near the toy so that the toy can listen clearly. In the mobile application, you can feed the toy, play more games, perform more stunts, etc.
The more you play with the toy, the more cards you unlock. Furthermore, you can level up which will give you additional bonus cards. In case you need any assistance, there is a question mark icon on the top of the screen in the application. Touch it to find any troubleshooting resolutions.
Charging
The No products found. with 3 LR44 rechargeable batteries. The batteries can be recharged using the USB cable that comes with it. You can charge the Boxer by connecting it to your laptop or computer or you can plug it into a wall charge using an adaptor. The USB port is on the underside of the Boxer.
A blinking red light indicates that the toy is being charged, whereas a solid red light indicates that the toy is fully charged and ready to play. A shortcoming we noticed is that the charging cable is quite short and it can be cumbersome to use such a short wire. However, you can easily replace the USB cord with any other USB cord of longer length with the same outlet.
