Our Verdict
The Depstech Endoscope Camera is a great product with some excellent features. It is perfect for tasks like checking plumbing pipes, auto repairs, equipment repair etc. It is no way designed for medical use.
Design
The Depstech Endoscope Camera has a 5MP HD camera which is attached to a flexible tube of 16.5 feet length. It allows various resolution options which can be adjusted. It works in WiFi, thus it is wireless. The wireless feature is useful as you never know where you might need to use the endoscope and cant keep looking for a power source. The mobility is helpful.
It can be operated using a mobile application. Once you connect the Depstech Endoscope Camera with your smartphone through the WiFi signal, you can view the live feed on your phone. The photos and video that you take will be stored in your smartphone via the application.
The Endoscope camera has a power button to turn it on or off. It also has a button to take photos from the live feed. As mentioned above, this can also be done by the phone, but clicking the button at the exact moment when you need to take a photo can be handy. The camera also has buttons to zoom in on your feed.
The LED camera has a setting to adjust the brightness of the LED light which is inbuilt in the camera. This is useful when you are using the endoscope camera in dark places with little or no light. The endoscope also has an additional LED light on its body which can act as a torch when required.
The Depstech Endoscope Camera runs on a rechargeable DC battery of 5 volts and 2600mAh. According to the manufacturer, this gives the endoscope camera a battery life fo about three to four hours. It has a battery indicator which tells you when you need to recharge your camera. The camera can be charged using a micro USB wire attached to a DC 5 volt adaptor or even your laptop or computer. It is waterproof. It comes with a few attachments, for the camera.
The attachments include a hook, a magnet attachment, and a mirror attachment. These accessories can be screwed into the LED camera. The mirror attachment can be used to watch something sideways. So if there isn’t much space for the flexible tube to go directly, you can use an alternative entrance and use the sideways mirror attachment to get a visual. The magnet attachment can be used to remove any small metal piece from the area, while the hook attachment can be used to remove a non-magnetic piece, such as wood shrapnel from a tight space.
Resolution
The Depstech Endoscope Camera has a resolution of 1600×1200, 1280×720, 640×480 and 320×240. It has a higher FPS or frames per second than most of its contemporaries. It’s FPS is 30. Most of the endoscope cameras have an FPS of 10. By having a larger FPS rate, it reduces the image freeze bottleneck. The advantage of having a higher rate of frames per second is that you get a smoother video. The higher the FPS ratio, the smoother is the video footage.
It also features a Camtele Technology which allows the endoscope camera to broaden the focal range of the endoscope up to 15.7 inches. This is a huge advantage as the competitive endoscope cameras in the same range provide a focal range of only 1 to 3 inches. The advantage of having a large focal range is that the subject of focus appears larger. Therefore, the larger the focal range, the bigger the object would appear.
It also has 5 circled blue LEDs and a 1200P HD camera. This reduces the risk of distortion of the image due to over-exposure and gives a great contrast. It also manages to give high-resolution video and photographs with amazing colour effect even in the dark. This is one of the biggest advantages of the Depstech Endoscope Camera as its application tends to be in places with little or no lighting.
Compatibility with Phone
The Depstech Endoscope Camera is compatible with any iOS and Andriod devices. It works on WiFi and can provide an uninterrupted WiFi transmitted signal of up to 33 feet. All you need to do is turn on the endoscope, turn on your smartphone, download the application for the Depstech Endoscope Camera, adjust the settings and turn on the WiFi signal.
Once you are connected to the WiFi signal provided by the endoscope, you can use it to view the video footage and take photographs on your phone. The photographs can also be taken by the endoscope, the application provides an additional feature of being able to capture images on your phone through the application.
Durability
The Depstech Endoscope Camera has a sturdy body. The flexible tube with the camera on the end is robust enough to not wear and tear with usage. It is also waterproof and has a rating of IP67. IP67 means the Depstech Endoscope Camera can be dropped into a body of water up to a meter deep for half an hour and is resistant to dust.
This is a huge advantage as the places you are likely to use the endoscope camera is where it hasn’t been cleaned in a while or has some leakage or liquid residue. The IP67 rating assures us that the endoscope camera can be used in a variety of places which is compatible with rough usage.
